www.fzrphotography.com My son finally got his 1981 Honda XR500R put back together and running. It was purchased as a basket case last fall and neither he nor I could afford to purchase all the parts required to reassemble the engine over the winter. With the $75 graduation bonus that his employer (Powersports Northwest) gave him, he was able to purchase the last couple parts to complete the job. He has gone through the motors of this '81, and his '83 XR500R, with very little help from me. The reason this thing was kicking back so bad was that he mistakenly switched the lighting and pulser coil wires, so the ignition was firing several times per revolution and seldom at the correct time.
